Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin Receives the 2024 Champion for Students Award from the K-12 Alliance of Michigan

At a ceremony attended by school officials from across Southeast Michigan last night, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin was awarded the 2024 Champion for Students Award by the K-12 Alliance of Michigan. This honor acknowledges her sustained efforts in advocating for the well-being of Michigan's schools and students.

"Congresswoman Slotkin has been a true champion for Michigan's schools and students in Congress and has consistently been an ally as we work toward the policies and funding priorities that support the work happening in our classrooms each and every day," said Robert McCann, Executive Director of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan. "On behalf of our schools and Superintendents, I'd like to thank Congresswoman Slotkin for her tireless advocacy as we present her with this well-deserved recognition for her work."

In presenting the award to Congresswoman Slotkin, the K-12 Alliance of Michigan recognized her ongoing work in support of fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as well as leading efforts to improve the coordination of cybersecurity between the federal government and local schools, and creating flexibility in how federal dollars are spent at the local district level.
