K-12 Alliance Responds to Senate Parliamentarian Ruling on Voucher Scheme

Robert McCann, executive director of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan, provided the following statement regarding the Senate’s parliamentarian ruling on vouchers today.

"We are pleased to see this covert attempt to divert taxpayer dollars to private schools be invalidated by the Senate parliamentarian. Michigan taxpayers expect - and our Constitution makes clear - that funding intended to benefit every student in our public schools not be siphoned away to instead benefit only a select few.

The current U.S. Supreme Court has ruled twice on recent cases to affirm the Michigan Constitution's authority within our state and we will continue to fight to ensure that any attempts to undermine our public schools do not win out."
