K-12 ALLIANCE OF MICHIGAN RESPONDS TO BUDGET PASSAGE
Lansing, Mich., Oct. 3, 2025 - In response to the passage of the FY 2025-2026 School Aid Budget, K-12 Alliance of Michigan Executive Director Robert McCann released the following statement:
“No lawmaker should be celebrating or expecting gratitude for a budget passed more than three months beyond their legal obligation to get it done and with zero transparency to allow it to be reviewed until shortly before it was passed.
To be clear, Michigan’s schools have been harmed throughout every step of this unnecessary, Lansing-made crisis and the lack of accountability as lawmakers continued to obstruct a budget from moving forward will not be forgotten.
We will be reviewing the budget passed tonight in detail in the coming days and will be providing further comment once we have had the opportunity to do so. However, what’s clear is that Lansing owes our parents and schools an apology for this broken process.”
