The K-12 Alliance of Michigan today congratulated Jocelyn Benson on her election as Michigan’s next Governor and said it is ready to work with her administration to strengthen Michigan’s public schools.
“Congratulations to Governor-elect Benson on her victory,” said Robert McCann, Executive Director of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan. “Educators appreciated hearing her talk on the campaign trail about what the right investments make possible inside our classrooms and we now look forward to working with the Governor-elect and her team to truly support the needs of each and every student.”
The group also congratulated Michigan's newly elected federal delegation and state legislators that will be taking office next year.
“So much of what we can and cannot offer our students in our classrooms is decided in both Lansing and Washington, DC, and now, more than ever, we need leaders willing to put politics aside and focus on the priorities that will best support schools across Michigan,” said Derek Fisher, President of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan and Superintendent of Garden City Public Schools. “Michigan’s students are best served by state and federal governments that work as partners to our public schools and we look forward to working with Governor-elect Benson and all of Michigan’s newly elected leaders as we create investments in our public schools that our students deserve."
